Marcus Ericsson has been taken to hospital for a 'routine check' after suffering a sizeable accident in third free practice for the British Grand Prix.
The Swede ran wide out of Stowe and clipped the damp astroturf to the left of the exit kerb, the unbalanced grip levels pitching him into a spin that would spear him into the opposing tyre barrier.
All four suspension corners were destroyed and the force of the impact was so much that the steering wheel became disconnected from the car in the crash.
Though Ericsson was able to extricate himself from the heavily damaged C35 and taken to the medical centre, Sauber has confirmed he has been taken to hospital for further checks, making him (and the car) a massive doubt for qualifying later.
