Prema driver Mick Schumacher has opened up on his plans for the 2020 Formula 2 season but admitted he has no idea what he will do if he cannot seal a drive in F1.

The German driver won one race in Hungary with Prema in his debut season in F2 in 2019 and hopes he can have more success with the team this season as F3 champion Robert Shwartzman joins the team in F2 for the upcoming season.

Schumacher admitted that he has not got much of a plan on where to go if an F1 future proves to be unobtainable, but showed his eagerness in making his plan work.

"I'll make plan A work," Schumacher said. "I am going to try and do a good job next year, but I think it is wrong to go into a championship and be saying that I am going to win the championship.

"You just put pressure on yourself so that's why I say to myself to just take it at one race at a time but to always stay on top of my game, basically."

Schumacher unsure of F1 testing roles in 2020

Schumacher also expressed his thoughts on being able to test in F1 during the 2020 season as he is not sure if he will get an opportunity to or not.

Last year, Schumacher tested with both Ferrari and Alfa Romeo during the mid-season testing in Bahrain, that took place after the Bahrain Grand Prix.

Schumacher pointed out that the only rookie test session taking place in 2020 will be after the season finale in Abu Dhabi, which he believes will be too late to secure a drive for the following season.

"Unfortunately, next year's rookie test is only going to happen after the season and it's going to be in Abu Dhabi," Schumacher explained. "Most likely, everything will be sorted then (for 2021) so we will have to see."

I read here a while back that Ferrari had said they would always have a seat for him.
