Magnussen expecting overtaking to be "difficult" at Silverstone

Kevin Magnussen believes that Silverstone will not be an easy track to overtake on, as Formula 1 travels straight to Great Britain following the Austrian Grand Prix. Magnussen himself had a torrid time in Austria, with problems in qualifying and the race hampering his whole weekend.

The Dane has raced at Silverstone twice before, crossing the line in seventh back in 2014 when he raced for McLaren. Last year, while with Renault, Magnussen failed to finish the race but was classified in P17 as he had completed more than 90% of the race distance.

"Silverstone is definitely one of the good circuits," he said." It’s really fast and you’ve got some big sections with fast change of directions. I really enjoy driving the circuit. I’m just looking forward to having a go. These cars are going to be much faster in those corners than the previous cars. I’m looking forward to it massively.

"It will be quite difficult to overtake at Silverstone, perhaps more difficult than previous years. Probably in the DRS zone and perhaps down Hangar Straight, it will be possible. Qualifying is going to be very important. You need good high-speed balance as most of the corners are high speed," he concluded.
