Atech CRS GP signs Tamas Pal Kiss for 2012

Atech CRS GP has confirmed Hungarian racer Tamas Pal Kiss alongside American Ethan Ringel among its line-up to contest the 2012 GP3 Series. The GP3 race winner from Miskolc, will rejoin the team with whom he contested the 2009 and 2010 Formula Renault UK Championship.

Tamas made his karting debut in 1998 aged seven, and during the next ten years he secured three titles in Hungarian kart championships before graduating into the Hungarian Formula Renault Championship in 2007. In 2008, Tamas moved into the Renault 2.0 Suisse before moving to the UK to contest the British series with David Hayle’s Silverstone-based outfit.

During the 20-round season Tamas secured 17 points-scoring finishes on his way to 13th place in the championship and third in the Graduate Cup. Staying with the team for a second season in 2010, Tamas took three victories, at Thruxton, Rockingham, and Oulton Park together with eight podium finishes from 16 top six places to earn third in the series.

After switching teams to contest the 2011 GP3 series, taking victory in Spain, the 20 year-old returns to the team with whom he established a great rapport, confident of a return to the top step of the podium.

"I'm really pleased to be returning to a team I know and to be working with some of the people I built up such a good relationship with in 2009/10", said Tamas. "After a successful season last year, it’s nice to come back to Atech and after a good test at the end of last season, and a positive pre-season test in Spain recently, I'm confident ahead of the 2012 season."

"Naturally it's always better to stay with a team for a second season for a proper attempt at winning the series, however I know the Atech team well, we work well together, and I have a very good relationship with my engineer Mick Cook. I’m sure that if we continue to work hard during the pre-season, we have a very good chance of challenging for the title."

Team Principal David Hayle was delighted to announce Tamas as one of the team's drivers, and heads into 2012 optimistic for the team’s best season to date: "I'm delighted to have signed Tamas for 2012. Having worked with him in 2009 and 2010, I have watched him develop and improve as a driver and his feedback, together with the expertise of our new Technical Director Mick Cook, has helped make some great improvements. I really believe we have our greatest chance of challenging for the GP3 title this year and I expect he will greatly assist our GP3 rookie Ethan Ringel as he embarks on only his second season in car racing."
