Lewis Hamilton arrived in São Paulo looking relaxed but focused. The seven-time world champion, still chasing his first Grand Prix podium with Ferrari, spoke with quiet confidence about how his new team is developing. “We are learning every race,” he said. “It finally feels like we are becoming a team that understands how to grow.”
A different kind of target
Since joining Ferrari, Hamilton’s season has been more about rhythm than results. He already claimed a Sprint win earlier this year, but a Grand Prix podium remains elusive. Still, the Briton insists he is not fixated on the statistics. “It is not only about the podium,” he said. “It is about understanding why we perform well or poorly. Once you know that, the results come naturally.”
In São Paulo his main goal is to turn pace into consistency. The Ferrari SF-25 has shown flashes of speed in Japan and Qatar but struggled with tyre wear and setup stability. Interlagos, with its fast changes of direction and mixed conditions, offers the perfect test.
Ferrari’s process of growth
Team principal Frédéric Vasseur confirmed that Ferrari is running new setup guidelines this weekend, based on lessons from previous races. “We are learning from our mistakes,” he said. “Lewis brings calm and structure to that process. He knows how to turn data into progress.”
Inside the garage, engineers describe Hamilton’s influence as transformative. His methodical approach has encouraged a more measured rhythm within the team. Ferrari, once known for emotional reactions, now works with patience and planning.
“The biggest change is that we analyse errors without panic,” Hamilton said. “That is how championship teams operate.”
Interlagos as a real test
Hamilton knows Interlagos better than most. He has won here three times and calls it “a circuit that tells you the truth about your car.” The track’s constant elevation changes and temperature swings make it the ideal environment to measure how well Ferrari’s upgrades are working.
According to team insiders, the target is not necessarily a podium, but a clean, well-executed race. Yet everyone in red knows how symbolic a Grand Prix podium in Brazil would be. It would confirm that Ferrari’s rebuild under Vasseur and Hamilton is beginning to bear fruit.
“Interlagos always gives you a chance,” Hamilton said. “It rewards courage. And if it rains, anything can happen.”
A new chapter
Hamilton’s partnership with Ferrari began with high expectations and inevitable adaptation. Eight months in, optimism has replaced pressure. The Briton says he feels more integrated in Maranello than ever before.
“We are building something that takes time,” he said. “You can feel the trust growing, even if the results are not perfect yet. That is what matters most to me.”
If the podium comes this weekend, it will represent more than just performance. It will symbolise growth — the quiet transformation of a legendary team learning to believe again.
