Max Verstappen heads into this weekend’s Brazilian Grand Prix with renewed confidence in his pursuit of the world championship. At the legendary Interlagos circuit, opportunities await, and with a sprint race on the schedule, the Dutchman has every reason to feel optimistic.
Verstappen’s strong form continues
The Red Bull driver has been on a sensational run in the second half of the season. Since the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort, Verstappen has finished on the podium in every race, taking victories in Italy, Azerbaijan, and the United States, along with a sprint win. He’s capitalized on McLaren’s recent struggles to close the gap in the championship battle significantly.
Verstappen now trails Lando Norris by just 36 points, with four race weekends remaining. With another sprint format in São Paulo, the reigning champion could slash that deficit even further.
A track full of memories
Interlagos has been a special place for Verstappen, both personally and professionally. Last year, he took a heroic victory after starting from 17th on the grid, a race that proved pivotal in his title campaign. The Dutchman is already in Brazil with his partner Kelly Piquet and her family, and his tone in Red Bull’s preview shows genuine excitement.
“Brazil is a special place for me, not only because of the great races and moments we’ve had there, but also because my in-laws are from here,” Verstappen said. “It can rain very hard, so you can get some pretty crazy races, like last year, when we came from P17 to win. That was a very emotional victory and an important one in the championship.”
Tribute to Brazil
To honor his connection to the country, Verstappen will wear a special Brazilian-themed helmet this weekend. “I’ll be wearing a special Brazil helmet for the race,” he revealed. “It’s such a historic place with so many great memories. I’ve gone for traditional Brazilian colors that really stand out. I think it looks awesome, and I can’t wait to use it on track.”
“The fans here are incredibly passionate, and I love racing on an old-school circuit like Interlagos. The atmosphere is amazing, and being part of that energy is something really special.”
