Grosjean's Monza disqualification upheld

Haas has failed to overturn Romain Grosjean's disqualification from the Italian Grand Prix in September. Grosjean crossed the line in sixth place to take eight points home for the American squad, however its rivals Renault launched a complaint immediately after the race.

Renault believed that Haas' floor was not in compliance with regulations. After an investigation, this was found to be true and Haas was stripped of its sixth place finish. The floor was found to be in breach of Article 3.7.1.d of the technical regulations, as clarified by TD/033-18, regarding its radius of 50mm.

Haas confirmed straight after the disqualification that it would appeal the decision. A hearing was held on Thursday, however, the FIA has now confirmed that the disqualification has been upheld.

The statement was released “to confirm the exclusion of Haas F1 Team’s car number eight from the 2018 Italian Grand Prix held in Monza counting towards the 2018 FIA Formula One World Championship. To date, only the operative part of the decision has been notified to the parties. The full decision including grounds will be notified later on.”

"Obviously we are disappointed not to have won our appeal," said Haas team principal Guenther Steiner. "We simply move forward and look to the final two races to continue the fight on-track, earn more points and conclude our strongest season to date in Formula 1."

It's only cheating if you get caught. They got caught. Not entirely sure why they appealed...

    • Because that's the kind of team they have become. Bunch of whiners.

Not sure neither. Saw the SKY feature on that disqualification and couldn't see any other outcome. Is this because it's an American team?

Seems to me this team and its drivers are the least liked in the paddock and in the public.

    • The drivers? Most likely. The team? Maybe, though we have the holy shit trinity to take into account too. They are probably the least liked in the midfield though.
