After he lost the Monaco Grand Prix in 2016 in a cruel fashion, Daniel Ricciardo managed to win the race today after a brilliant defensive performance. Troubled with a problematic power loss, the Australian driver carefully nursed his Red Bull car to an outstanding triumph.

“I think I can show more emotion today rather than yesterday. This is two years in the making so I finally feel like the redemption has arrived.” Ricciardo commented shortly after the race ended. “We had problems. We had a lot to deal with during the race. I felt a loss of power and I thought the race was done. I got home just using six gears.” he added
“Thanks to the team. We got it back. I’m stoked. There were a few doubts that came in mid-race but… we won Monaco. It feels good!" Ricciardo concluded. In 2016, Ricciardo took his first career pole position and led for the most part of the race until a strategic error costed him the race win.
After six rounds, Ricciardo currently sits third in the Drivers Championship with 72 points. Aston Martin Red Bull team principal Christian Horner made a post race comment regarding Ricciardo's chances for the world title. “He’s now won the same amount of races as Lewis and Sebastian in this championship." Horner told Sky Sports. “Obviously he could have done more in Bahrain without that retirement, we all know what happened in Baku.” he concluded.
