Romain Grosjean isn't writing off Haas' latest upgrades yet, despite enduring a nightmare race weekend in Singapore.
The former lotus driver crashed twice on Saturday before brake failure on Sunday meant he couldn't even start the race.
Haas took new upgrades to Singapore, but even though he suffered in the city state, Grosjean is confident the upgrades will work.
"I think the updates work… are we using them properly? I don't know," Grosjean is quoted by Crash.net. "We are still missing some channel to check everything in terms of aero data but I tried the new front wing versus the old, we kept the old one as a known quantity, but the new one didn't feel too bad."
He did however say that the problems he suffered in Singapore were confusing.
"It is weird, we changed the rear wing, we changed the drums, the floor after the crash and the behaviour is the same," he mused. "A bit dodgy."
