Renault reserve driver Esteban Ocon is in the frame to get a 2017 drive with the team, according to team principal Frederic Vasseur.
The 18 year old Frenchman is the reigning GP3 champion, and also has the 2014 European Formula Three title on his CV.
"From here in Silverstone he will often be in the cars on Fridays, and will test for us next week," Vasseur confirmed. "After that we will have a better view of his potential but he is a natural candidate to race for us in 2017."
Renault have set the target of fighting for a championship in 2020, and are looking at drivers for the future.
