The list of potential teammates for confirmed Caterham driver
Kamui Kobayashi in Abu Dhabi is growing by the hour. Names including Andre Lotterer,
Roberto Merhi,
Rubens Barrichello, new GP2 champion
Jolyon Palmer and
Max Chilton have all been linked with the drive, after Swedish regular
Marcus Ericsson terminated his contract last week.
Now, Italiaracing reports that Lebanese driver Khalil Beschir is another candidate, perhaps given his high profile in Abu Dhabi as a television pundit and also a manager of up-and-coming Middle Eastern drivers.
In other F1 driver news, although
McLaren has denied reports he may be in the running for a
Honda-powered role in 2015, Carlos Sainz jr's road to F1 remains on track. The Spanish daily Marca reports that the energy drink company-backed 20-year-old will drive Red Bull's 2014 car in the post-race Abu Dhabi test next week.
Sainz, the new Formula
Renault 3.5 champion, also remains in the running for a 2015 race seat at Red Bull's junior team Toro Rosso. (GMM)
