Oostenrijkse helm Verstappen wordt geveild: Nu al ruim 130.000 euro geboden

Max Verstappen onthulde afgelopen week zijn speciale helmdesign voor de Oostenrijkse Grand Prix. In Spielberg kwam de Nederlandse Red Bull Racing-coureur in actie met een bijzondere helm met blauwe en groene tinten. De helm bracht hem enkele successen met een pole position, een zege in de sprint en een tweede plaats in de race.

Al snel werd duidelijk dat de helm eenmalig zou worden gebruikt door Verstappen. De Nederlandse leider in het wereldkampioenschap maakte daarna duidelijk dat hij de helm zou gaan veilen. Via een online veiling kan iedereen met interesse bieden op de helm. De opbrengst van de veiling gaat naar de stichting Wing of Life, deze stichting is opgericht door Red Bull-oprichter Dieter Mateschitz.

Geïnteresseerden in de helm hebben nog wel eventjes de tijd om met een bod te komen. De veiling sluit namelijk pas op 4 september. De helm zal worden voorzien van een handtekening van Verstappen en de Nederlander zal de helm persoonlijk overhandigen aan degene met het hoogste bod. Tevens krijgt de winnaar ook twee VIP-tickets voor de aankomende Grand Prix van Abu Dhabi. Momenteel staat het hoogste bod op 132.500 euro.

  Het is een boel geld voor een m.i. lelijke helm waarmee Max ook nog eens niet mee gewonnen heeft, maar het is een ongelooflijk belangrijk goed doel. Dat maakt alles goed.
  Zelfs het idee dat een rijke stinkerd de helm straks in een vitrine van zijn riante ontvangsthal plaatst om ermee te laten zien wat voor gigantische weldoener hij of zij is...
