Sky Sports pit reporter Ted Kravitz has heaped praise on Max Verstappen after the Dutchman’s stunning recovery drive in Brazil. Starting from the pit lane, Verstappen powered his Red Bull to a podium finish, leaving Kravitz deeply impressed by the four-time world champion’s skill and determination.
Verstappen had originally qualified only sixteenth but made extensive setup changes, forcing him to start from the pit lane. From there, he charged through the field to claim third place at Interlagos.
“Verstappen Is Brilliant”
In his show Ted’s Notebook, Kravitz was full of admiration: “Max Verstappen, brilliant. He may be 49 points behind in the championship, but thanks to him Red Bull has overtaken Ferrari in the Constructors’ standings.”
Kravitz also highlighted the stark contrast with Yuki Tsunoda’s weekend. “Yuki finished seventeenth and last. It wasn’t his fault, but he just didn’t have any pace all weekend.”
“Max started from the pit lane on the hard tyre, with a new engine, which is good news for the upcoming races,” Kravitz continued. “He was already up to thirteenth after seven laps before suffering a slow puncture that forced him onto the mediums. In the end, it worked out well despite three pit stops. He overtook everyone, stopped again on lap 35, and once more on lap 55.”
Verstappen Nearly Took Second
“From the pit lane to the podium, and by the end he was just a few tenths behind Kimi Antonelli,” Kravitz said. “That shows Red Bull finally got the setup right. The question is, why didn’t they have this setup all weekend? And can they keep it going? Because that would be perfect. They were by far the two fastest cars on track.”
“If Red Bull can hold onto this setup, that would be ideal,” Kravitz concluded. “It would make for an exciting end to the season.” Verstappen now sits third in the championship, 25 points behind Oscar Piastri and 49 behind Lando Norris, making another title challenge unlikely.
