Fresh off his victory at the Italian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen was back behind the wheel at Monza this morning — this time for a Pirelli tire test. The Dutchman logged valuable mileage as Formula 1’s sole tire supplier continues its development program for the 2026 season.

A busy field of drivers
As expected, Verstappen was spotted on track in the morning, with photos and videos circulating widely on social media. He wasn’t alone: Aston Martin’s reserve driver Felipe Drugovich also took part in the morning session, while Isack Hadjar surprised many by appearing on track earlier than expected. The Racing Bulls program had initially been scheduled for tomorrow.
Heading home early
Verstappen is not expected to drive in the afternoon session. His seat will likely be handed over to teammate Yuki Tsunoda, while Verstappen prepares to head home. Reports from Milan suggest his private jet is already waiting, with the four-time world champion set to return to his residence in Monaco later today.
Nürburgring on the horizon
There won’t be much downtime, however. On Friday, Verstappen is scheduled to travel to the Nürburgring Nordschleife to obtain his permit to compete on the legendary circuit. According to German media, he will take part in a course on Friday before lining up for his very first race at the “Green Hell” on Saturday.
