Haas confirm Italian GP disqualification appeal

Haas team principal Guenther Steiner has confirmed that the American team will lodge an appeal against the stewards' decision to disqualify Romain Grosjean from the Italian Grand Prix. Immediately after the race, Renault confirmed that it had submitted a complaint against Grosjean's car.

An investigation followed and Grosjean was stripped of his sixth-place finish after it was found that his car did not comply with the regulations that demanded the front corners of the T-tray of the floor have a 50mm radius when viewed from below.

Haas was aware of the issue as it had been using an update since the Canadian Grand Prix that did not comply with a fresh interpretation of rules set by the FIA in July. Haas had previously asked the FIA for more time to work around the issue, as it was difficult to implement new parts over the summer break.

The team had until Thursday evening to submit its paperwork to the FIA, following on from its intent to appeal on Sunday night following the Grand Prix at Monza. Confirmation of the appeal process and the timing of a court hearing is expected to come next week.

  • I have an idea Haas, redesign the damn floor. You were warned months ago about this. Is it not enough that Ferrari pretty much designs 80% of your car? Redesign the floor and comply like everyone else.
