Kimi Raikkonen claims there is no point dwelling over what result Ferrari may have achieved in Malaysia if not for reliability issues. The Finn was due to start the race from second on the grid but was forced to retire before the formation lap due to an engine problem.
Raikkonen was rushed off the grid and back to the garage where his mechanics attempted to fix the problem. However, it was deemed terminal and Raikkonen stepped out of the car on a day where he could have claimed his first victory since 2013.

In yesterday's qualifying session, Raikkonen's teammate Sebastian Vettel suffered from the same problem, which meant he had to start at the back of the grid for today's race. When asked if he thought he could have won the Grand Prix, Raikkonen stated it was pointless to think about it.
"Of course it’s far from ideal, the issue came out of nowhere. I’m sure we could have had a very good race but where we would have finished, who knows?" he said. "It’s pointless to even think about that right now. It’s a shame, but it is what it is and now we go for the next weekend."
"We have a good package but we have to make the most out of it. It’s been a tough couple of races, next weekend is a new challenge again and, like we said, we’ve had a good car recently so we don’t expect anything else there. Obviously you can never know, it’s a different circuit but we go there like for any other race weekend and see where we are and go for there."

Such a shame he couldnt even start. We really didnt need Mercedes getting further away in the constructor's championship.
