Kubica to test 2017 car at Hungary?

Robert Kubica is set to take part in the in-season test at Hungarian, following the Hungarian Grand Prix. The Pole is targeting a miraculous F1 comeback after a major rally crash in 2011 cut short a very promising F1 career.

Kubica is regarded as one of the best in the business, with Fernando Alonso claiming that he is "the best". In the early stages of June, Kubica completed an 115 lap test in Valencia and successfully passed another recent test at the Circuit Paul Ricard, where Renault was evaluating his come-back capabilities.

Bild claims that the 32-year-old will be at the in-season test at Hungary and all going well, may even get a race outing: "If he shows his speed from the past, he should replace Jolyon Palmer from Spa-Francorchamps after the summer break."

Cyril Abiteboul added fuel to the fire by stating: "Jo [Jolyon Palmer] has had some problems with reliability, but it is true that if we had two drivers who scored, we would not be eighth in the world championship. We are not testing Kubica for PR reasons. He is still fast and has the same energy."
