Marko denies Verstappen team move rumours

Following rumours that Max Verstappen will be leaving Red Bull Racing at the end of 2017 to move to a different team for the 2018 Season, Dr Helmut Marko has denied that the Dutchman will be leaving the Austrian outfit for next year.

The rumour that Verstappen will be leaving Red Bull links the driver to a seat at Ferrari in 2018, despite already being signed to his current team for the forseeable future. When asked by Auto Bild if he wants to drive for Ferrari, Verstappen simply said "I want to sit in the fastest car."

When asked if an offer from Ferrari could trigger Verstappen's exit, Marko said "No," with Verstappen having the option to extend his contract with the team to 2019 while Daniel Ricciardo is already under contract with the team next season.

Verstappen currently lies in sixth place in the Drivers' Championship, having a highest finishing of third place so far this year. His season so far has been plagued with reliability issues, meaning that the Dutchman has only finished four of the eight races so far this season. On the other site of the Red Bull garage, Daniel Ricciardo, has had four consecutive podium finishes including one win last time out in Azerbaijan - a race that Verstappen could have won if reliability issues didn't take him out of the running.
