Jenson Button has been given an honorary degree by the University of Bath.

The recently retired former world champion collected his Doctor Of Engineering Award earlier today.

Button, although under contract with McLaren for 2017 and 2018 walked away from Formula One after last month's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix after contesting 305 races - third most of all time.

His first win came at the 2006 Hungarian Grand Prix, after 113 races - at the time, he was the driver with the highest number of races without a win in the field.
