Fernando Alonso hopes that Eric Boullier remains with McLaren

Fernando ALonso has said that Eric Boullier is important for the McLaren team.

That's the reaction that the Spaniard gave to questions from Formula1.com about the rumours that Boullier has been approached by Ferrari to replace Maurizio Arrivabene as team boss.

Alonso does not know how much is true of those stories, but the Spaniard emphasized the importance of Boullier to  McLaren.

"There a lot of rumours circulating, not only about this situation," the double world champion starts. "Saturday Eric himself speaks with the media and the press can ask him about it. I believe that this team needs him and I hope he stays. But it may also be that it is no more than speculation, it is just a waste of time to devote attention. "

Alonso believes McLaren will be better this weekend in the US than in Japan.

"If you take into consideration the entire season, then Suzuka was a one race where performance fell short of expectations. We do it thoroughly analysed in the factory and of course translate our findings into the project for the car next year."

  • He is one of the more sensible voices in the McLaren garage, so its a good thing for them if he stays. Definitely more important there than Dennis.
