Jenson Button has said he will likely participate in some rallycross events next year as he takes time out of Formula One.
The 2009 world champion recently announced he would step down from his race seat with McLaren in order to be " living on my schedule" after 17 years competing in F1.
"I'll definitely do some karting in the future and probably rallycross as well," Button told Sky Sports. "That I'm very fond of and it's very close to my heart . . . I just feel I need a bit of time to recover after this season and live on my schedule."
The former Honda driver has never hidden his desire to compete in rallycross events, following in his father's footsteps. John Button was runner up in the 1976 British Rallycross championship.
Last November Button attended the finale of the Red Bull Global Rallycross championship in Las Vegas and was pictured with former F1 driver Nelson Piquet Jr. The series was won last year by another ex-F1 driver, Scott Speed, who also currently tops this year's championship.
