Newly promoted Esteban Ocon will be evaluated by Renault as he drives the remainder of the season with Manor.
Ocon was confirmed as the replacement for Rio Haryanto after the German Grand Prix with many fans excited to see the 19 year old in Formula One. He is rumoured to replace Brit Jolyon Palmer in 2017 at Renault, and Managing Director of Renault Cyril Abiteboul says that Ocon's performances will decide where he is in 2017.
"Esteban joining Manor Racing for the last nine races of the season demonstrates the excellent relationship Renault and Mercedes have maintained for several years,” Abiteboul said. "It is an outstanding opportunity for Esteban to gather mileage and race experience in a young, stable and very professional team."
“He will be up against a highly rated and quick teammate, which will enable us to evaluate him in a representative environment. I hope this experience will be of great benefit for him and for Renault in the near future.”
In relation to the 2017 line-up, the team has confirmed that they will more than likely announce who their drivers will be in September with both Jolyon Palmer and Kevin Magnussen on one year deals.
