Former team president Luca di Montezemolo has spoken out about the team's current state.
After a winless first half of the 2016 season, the Italian press branded the Maranello team is in crisis.
"We were ahead of Red Bull and now they're ahead of us," admitted Kimi Raikkonen after another poor showing at the German Grand Prix last weekend. "It has been a bit painful, but we will improve,"
Current president Sergio Marchionne, however, remains optimistic, stating that the team has"phenomenal talent" and doesn't need to bring anyone in to turn around their performance.
While di Montezemolo, in Rio to promote Italy's 2024 Olympic Games bid, didn't want to say too much on Italy's current situation, he did admit he was pleased with Marchionne's remarks.
"I love Ferrari, so the best thing is not to say too much," he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
However, when speaking to Ferrari insider Leo Turrini, he said: "I do not speak about Ferrari, except to say that it pleases me that Marchionne claims there are formidable people within the company."
"In fact, they were there even two years ago, as they are all people I appointed," Montezemolo added.
