Ferrari have announced that Chief Technical Officer James Allison has left the team with immediate effect.
The news comes just days after team principal Maurizio Arrivabene denied speculation linking Allison with a move away from Maranello. He will be replaced by former Chief Operating Officer for the Power Unit, Mattia Binotto.

"The Team would like to thank James for his commitment and sacrifice during the time spent together, and wishes him success and serenity for his future endeavours," said Arrivabene in a statement issued by the team.
"During the years I spent at Ferrari, at two different stages and covering different roles, I could get to know and appreciate the value of the team and of the people, women and men, which are part of it," added Allison. "I want to thank them all for the great professional and human experience we shared. I wish everybody a happy future with lots of success."
Allison is expected to return to Renault for his third stint at the Enstone-based team.

Too bad for the prancing donkeys, this is it for Ferrari, Seb exit incoming. It doesn't matter if the split was due to James needing to be with his children after his wife' passing or if they split because James had a falling out with senior management. The loss will be felt and it doesn't look like they have any big name proven replacements lined up.

It was Just a matter of time. I'm not too sure of long term plan of Sergio marchionne. Arrivabene is not able to leave a mark of his own. Ferrari is back to turmoil.
