Teams back Heineken deal

Formula One teams have dismissed criticism of the series' new sponsorship deal with Heineken.

The sport's deal with the Dutch brewer has caused controversy, with public health organisation Eurocare demanding that alcohol sponsorship disappear as tobacco backing did a decade ago.

However, prominent paddock figures have rubbished the complaints, arguing that the new deal brings a lot to the sport.

"I think it (Heineken) will be great for formula one so no, I don't have a problem with that level of involvement," Manor racing director Dave Ryan said.

Red Bull racing team principal Christian Horner agreed, saying: "I think it's a positive thing. There are some great brands involved in Formula One now and hopefully we can put on a good show for them."

"I think Heineken is fantastic for Formula One," added Force India deputy chief Bob Fernley.
