Ferrari running too much KERS power

It has come to light that Ferrari were using too much power on their MGU-K unit and had to alter it upon the request of the FIA.

After qualifying a list was released by the Governing Body for changes to be made during Parc Ferme before the Grand Prix as the unit was against the regulations and therefore would have resulted in a penalty or disqualification after the race.

The change was only requested on Alonso's car and not Raikkonen's.

The MGU-K unit is otherwise known as the KERS Generator, or in other terms, the part that produces the power for the KERS unit and the maximum power output that it may produce is 120 KW and it is speculated that Ferrari had originally been advised to increase the output and then later decrease it.

In addition to the FIA's list, another was released stating that the FIA had checked the maxmum MGU-K torque on cars 3, 44, 8 and 77 (Ricciardo, Hamilton, Grosjean and Bottas), but not on the Ferrari of Alonso.
