News has reached F1Today.net from Spanish and British sources that
Adrian Newey has had an offer from
Ferrari to join the team as their lead aerodynamicist.
With the Ferrari team have struggled to adapt to the new rules and regulations due to the F14T initially being overweight and then facing problems with the Ferrari power unit this season both drivers have been finishing the in mid-pack.
Coupling that with a change in Team Prinicipal from
Stefano Domenicali to Marco Mattiacci and it would appear that they are having a serious shake-up in aid of boosting performance.
Newey, who has experience at various Formula 1 teams such as Leyton House,
Williams and
McLaren, joined Red Bull in 2006 during their second year as a constructor and by 2009, they were already becoming title challengers with both Constructors and Drivers' Titles to follow for the next four seasons.
When asked by Sky F1's Ted Kravitz if he would consider working for the Scuderia he replied "There's always rumours isn't there? It's the silly season".
He was also asked if there was a decision that needed to be made soon, to which the 55 year-old replied "We're all under contract, so at some point I have to think about the future. My focus at the moment is trying to get back on top of those silver cars.".
