The Australian Grand Prix was a highly eventful and action-packed season opener, with Rosberg taking the spoils ahead of Daniel Ricciardo and Kevin Magnussen who becomes the first Danish driver onto the podium.
There were various retirements throughout, no less than that of the reigning World Champion, Sebastian Vettel and pole-sitter, Lewis Hamilton.
There was no response to the Mercedes of Rosberg when he got going but the crowd were able to cheer for Daniel Ricciardo after he drove a fantastic race and finished the whole race and got a podium finish out of it. Magnussen also stunned many people in his first race when he was able to beat team-mate Jenson Button, who finished forth, and challenge for second but ended up in third.
Williams had a good and bad race, with Massa being taken out by the Caterham of Kamui Kobayashi at the first corner of the race. On the other hand, Bottas managed to finish sixth, after hitting the wall coming out of turn 10 and getting a puncture, and scored more points in one race then what the Grove based team achieved the whole of last year.
Both Lotus' made it further than people expected but in the end, both cars stopped out on track and that was there race over. The Ferrari of Alonso was able to finish fifth but his team-mate Raikkonen has struggled with the F14 T all weekend and this carried on into the race, with the Finn finishing eighth.
Lewis Hamilton and reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel both ended up retiring after problems with their cars.
All in all it was a great race and it has revealed more on how the 2014 season is going to shape up. The next race is in two weeks time for the Malaysian Grand Prix.
