Raikkonen: Many factors behind Ferrari's 2018 pace

Kimi Raikkonen says that many factors are behind Ferrari's improved pace in 2018, not just one single element. The Maranello outfit is in the hunt for its first driver's world championship in ten years, and also the constructor's title, which it hasn't claimed since 2007.

Ferrari currently trails Mercedes in the world championship, however Raikkonen's teammate Sebastian Vettel has vowed that the Prancing Horses will come back even stronger after the summer break. Speaking about Ferrari's improved pace this season, the Iceman says there is no single dominant factor.

"We have a decent car, we keep improving things," he said. "It’s a lot to do with the feel, how you feel the car and tyres and all these things. Obviously, some circuits are better, some conditions are better for one team than other, and I think we’ve been pretty okay most of the places. I think a lot of things will be falling in the right places."

Raikkonen is enjoying a somewhat successful year, having stepped onto the podium eight times. However, he is yet to claim a victory in the hybrid era. Speaking about the remainder of the season, the 37-year-old said that Ferrari still has improvements to make.

"There’s still things to improve for us as a whole team, but that’s never-ending," he said. "It doesn’t matter, even if you win all the races there’s always things to improve. That kind of area in this sport will never stop and I don’t think you are ever good enough in many ways."
