Romain Grosjean unhappy with qualifying performance

Despite qualifying inside the top ten in qualifying for the Chinese Grand Prix, Romain Grosjean admits that he was unhappy with his qualifying performance. He also claimed soon after the session that the tenth position is "not ideal" place to be in for the start of the race.

Grosjean suffered recurring problems with the brake-by-wire system during free practice 3. The Haas driver had similar issues last year and therefore was limited to only six laps on the last free practice session. He also complained about the lack of grip throughout qualifying.

When asked about the problems he encountered in the FP3, Grosjean replied: "This morning, we had our problem and the team did an amazing job to put the car back together. There was a lot of work on the car. The engineers changed quite a lot on the setup last night to give me a better feeling in the car, which was great to have today. So, I’m really pleased with all of that.”

Grosjean also commented on the qualifying session problems: "Our position in Q3 is not ideal.” Grosjean said. “On the last lap, we didn’t have the grip we had earlier on in the session. We just need to analyse that and make sure we understand why." he added.

“Tomorrow, the first stint is going to be the key. We’re starting on the ultra-soft, and everyone behind is going to start on the better tyre , but we can work from there.” Grosjean ended.

  • Grosjean had some flashes of brilliance with Lotus, and a couple of drives with Haas. But in general he always manages to have issues his teammates don't have. Something seems particularly off this season.
