Nico Rosberg has criticised Pirelli's approach to the 2018 season. For 2018, the sport's official tyre supplier has added two new compounds to its range, differentiating the seven tyres with colour coding.
Pirelli said recently it considered using the same three colours at every grand prix, but ultimately decided that the spectators could handle the complexity. 2016 world champion Rosberg said: "I believe having such a large number of tyre colours is the wrong approach."
"No one cares about such details. At each race, teams have a soft, medium and hard tyre and the marking of them should be the same every time," he added. "The number of compounds does not matter to the audience," the German told RTL. (GMM)

Well, I for one, agree with Pirelli rather than Rosberg.

Still bitter about 2016 huh?
Quite frankly the Pirelli tyres have been an utter joke for many seasons now. I mean how is it 'racing' when they are told to slow down and watch their tyres from lap 2?
Goodyear never had this issue, the Eagles could be raced and hard.. not like crappy cheese pirelli junk.- + 3

I think Pirelli are perfectly capable of producing tyres that last the whole race. But that's not what they were asked to do. They were asked for these damn tyres that disintegrate and can't be pushed. Because someone had the idea it would spice up the show. Probably someone who didn't want to address the real problems with overtaking in F1 like aero, huge disparities in revenue allocation, favouring of certain teams, etc. No, I don't really blame Pirelli too much. Their tyres are just fine in other racing categories

In part I blame Ecclestone for implementing these silly rules. But bear in mind that its Pirelli who hold the true power there. If they object to the regulations, nobody would supply. And the fact remains that Pirelli has during all of these years been unable to produce tyres you can race on.

I agree with Pirelli. Otoh, as long as they announced the compounds used, it wouldn't be too bad if the colours were always the same.

I think that is a really interesting point. No colours, only the team know what they have on their car, spice things up a bit. Leave every team guessing the strategy of the other. Team can report to scrutineers to be sure two compounds have been used (a stupid rule in my mind) and small self colour marker or letter imprint in 5he wall can be inspected for compliance.
