Perez insists "it’s time to move forwards" after teammate collisions

Sergio Perez believes that it time to move on after coming together with teammate Esteban Ocon a number of times over the season. The two caused a headache for Force India last weekend at the Belgian Grand Prix when they collided twice during the race.

Both cars resumed racing without sufficient damage after the first incident, but the second resulted in a rear right tyre puncture for Perez and front wing damage for Ocon. Following the race, officials at Force India stated that they are no longer allowed to race freely, having already crashed at Azerbaijan and Hungary.

Speaking at Monza, which will contest the latest round of the 2017 season this weekend, Perez thinks that everyone should move on from the incident and stated that both drivers will make sure that the team does not lose any more points this year.

"I think we’ve been racing very closely lately," said Perez. "We had a couple of incidents in the last races, I had a really good conversation with him personally, between him and me. It’s time to move forwards, everyone has his opinion, engineers have one opinion, fans, us, different on what has been happening.

"The most important now is to move forwards, the objective is to finish P4, we cannot afford to lose more points, we’ve lost points in those races, and I’m fairly sure these things will not happen again. I believe a new relationship can start from now on and we can work as a team and put the interest of the team first, we came to that agreement and it’s quite simple."
