Lewis Hamilton was overjoyed to make history on Saturday by equalling Michael Schumacher's record of 68 pole positions, and he was just as happy after Sunday's race, which he won from pole to halve Sebastian Vettel's points lead.
"It has been a strong weekend for myself and the team, I am really grateful for all of their hard work," he said afterwards. "Sebastian put up a great fight but this is what I said I was going to do and I did it."
The win seemingly has some sentimental value to Hamilton after his achievement in qualifying; the first F1 race he ever attended was the 1996 Belgian Grand Prix, won by Schumacher during his first year with Ferrari. "I came here in 1996 with my dad and it was our dream to be here one day, so this shows to those of you just watching that dreams do come true and you've just got to keep striving for it, believe in yourself and never give up."
