Daniel Ricciardo says that a positive Friday is leading him to believe that Red Bull could challenge for pole position tomorrow. The Australian impressively topped both practice session on Friday, suggesting that a three-way battle could be on in tomorrow's qualifying session.
Red Bull arrived in Hungary with a major upgrade and the hope of taking the challenge to both Mercedes and Ferrari. In the second practice outing, Ricciardo set a time that was just shy of Rubens Barrichello's lap record set back in 2004.

"We look good, we look comfortable and strong," Ricciardo said to Sky F1 following Friday's running. "I'm sure the others will bring a bit more tomorrow, but we look in a good position. We know Mercedes are very strong in qualifying and have more power to use.
"Coming into qualifying tomorrow we'll still need to be a few tenths ahead of them to feel we have a chance of pole, but today was good. Long runs as well don't seem too bad. It's definitely looking positive."
Teammate Max Verstappen failed to set the timings screen alive, as he claims that his fast runs on the super soft tyre were ruined by yellow flags. However, he believes that the upgrades the team have brought are working well.
"From my side in the beginning it was a bit difficult, I was struggling with the balance," he said. "We started to sort out the balance a bit better, and we changed quite a lot of things on the car, and at the end of second practice it was good, but I couldn't finish my lap because of the flags. The car definitely has a lot more grip, and you can see in the timings that we're there, which is very positive. It's looking better than previous races."
