Magnussen happy with seventh place finish

Kevin Magnussen claimed his best career finish since the 2016 Russian Grand Prix today in Baku, as the Dane crossed the line in seventh place. The Haas driver was legitimately running in third place at one stage, but couldn't keep the likes of Bottas, Hamilton and Vettel. behind him.

With that result, Magnussen moves ahead of teammate Romain Grosjean in the standings by one point, while Haas got the jump on Renault in the constructor standings. They now head them by 3 points after the French manufacturer suffered a double retirement.

"It was a crazy race with all the Safety Car periods, the red flag – so many things happened. I stayed out of trouble and had a good balance in the car. The car’s been handling well all weekend – there’s just been some issues with brakes and just not being that competitive on this track and the layout not suiting us. To come away with a seventh-place finish is pretty good. We were in P3 at one point and I got a bit excited about that. I had some fun out there. It was a great afternoon."

Very good race by Kevin. He's showing flashes of brilliance again. He doesn't seem to perform very well when he is unsure about his future, which is why I think it was a good move to go with Hans for 2 years, instead of staying with Renault for one year. Grosjean is also looking like someone who is starting to feel the pressure a little bit.

Regarding Grosjean, i think his reaction is a bit immature with his "No comments"
My question is why there is so much speed difference between Ferrari and Haas.
If we compared Mercedes and Williams and Force India their speed was much narrower.

  • Unsung hero of the race, did a nice job. Seems to be settling at haas much better than he has at Renault or McLaren

I'm definitely not a fan of his, but this was a very good drive! He deserved more than p7.
