Ocon claims "no tension" between himself and Perez

Force India driver Esteban Ocon has said that everything has been sorted between himself and teammate Sergio Perez after the Mexican refused to listen to team orders at the last race in Canada.

Perez’s actions potentially cost Ocon his first ever podium in F1 as he refused to let Ocon through to attack and potentially overtake Daniel Ricciardo, even though Ocon had fresher tyres than Perez and was assured that he would be let back past if Ocon failed to make a move.

By the end of the race both drivers were overtaken by the recovering Sebastian Vettel and finished fifth and sixth. Despite this, Ocon insisted that relations between the two were good in the aftermath of the tense race.

"We had a good discussion after the race in the debrief, I also called Sergio during the week when everyone was relaxed and discussed our points. We're all good now. All set for a new weekend and there is no tension between us."

When asked why he felt a phone call was necessary to Perez in the aftermath, he elaborated that: "First of all we had a plane to catch just after so we were in a bit of rush to debrief. It's always good to do it a little bit after, to talk when you know everyone's relaxed and the weekend's finished. To have a further talk was quite important I think. And we just discussed our points, discussed freely, just us both, together. I think it was important to do that. As I said, now everything is settled down and we are ready to attack that race."
