Being behind front runners "is pretty awesome" - Grosjean

Romain Grosjean came away from qualifying with an outstanding result, as the Frenchman placed his Haas P6, only behind the Mercedes', Ferrari's and one Red Bull.

Haas, who are only entering their second season of Formula 1, are looking to build on the 29 points that they claimed last season, and Grosjean labelled the current pace of the car as "awesome".

"In winter testing I was not sure where the car was and I was not having the best feeling," said Grosjean. "But we came here and the guys made an unbelievable job to give me a car that was actually reacting much better to my driving – I was happy with it.

"We've been growing up through the weekend, working hard. We know there are three teams (Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull) at the front that are unbeatable right now, but being behind them is pretty awesome."

Despite being five places away from the top spot, Grosjean's lap was almost two seconds slower than pole-sitter Lewis Hamilton, with Haas team principal Guenther Steiner's prophecy appearing to be true: the top three teams are in a league of their own.
