Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo feels he is "ready" to challenge for the championship in 2017.
The Australian finished third behind both Mercedes drivers for the second time in three years in 2016.
With new aerodynamic regulations coming into force next year, Red Bull are expected to mount a serious title-challenge for the first time since 2013, and Ricciardo feels he's up for the challenge.
"Yeah I know I'm ready for it," Ricciardo told RACER.
"I'm still not going to get my hopes up. I still think Mercedes will be the targets but if we can challenge then obviously that's great. I won't psych myself up too much to be let down, but I know that deep down if we've got a chance to do it then I'm ready for it. I actually feel like I've been ready for a couple of years now, so I hope that opportunity comes."
