Happy birthday Mika Hakkinen

Former Formula One driver Mika Hakkinen turns 48 today.

The Finnish driver was world champion in 1998 and 1998 for McLaren and started 161 Grands Prix, winning 20 of them.

He retired from the sport in 2001 after initially taking a one-year sabbatical. He made a three-year return to the cockpit between 2005-2007 racing in the DTM for Mercedes, winning three races and taking a best championship result of fifth.

Michael Schumacher even called Hakkinen his biggest rival, despite racing against the likes of Ayrton Senna, Damon Hill, Jacques Villeneuve, Juan Pablo Montoya, Kimi Raikkonen, and Fernando Alonso.

"My biggest rival for the world championship is still Hakkinen," The German famously said.
