Today, Max Verstappen has successfully ran the new upgraded Renault Power Unit. The French Manufacture have confirmed, from tomorrow, all four drivers will now run the updated specification.
After the Italian Grand Prix, F1Today had speculated that Renault could bring an updated PU for the Singapore Grand Prix. The new upgrade is worth three development tokens and Red Bull Racing Driver, Max Verstappen was the first driver to trial the new unit.
From Free Practice 3, the upgrade will also be available to Daniel Ricciardo, Kevin Magnussen and Jolyon Palmer.
The tight and twisty circuit is a one-off and therefore, it plays the RB12's strengths. Along with the upgrade, which is rumoured to be two-tenths a lap quicker, presents Red Bull's best chance to win their second race of the year.
The specific parts of the upgrade are unknown, but it does not require a new Power Unit. But the upgrade is expected to work in line with a new fuel upgrade which Total have brought for this weekend's race around Marina Bay.
