An official announcement regarding the 2017 whereabouts of Sergio Perez could be announced soon after Force India team principal Vijay Mallya has said that a deal is in place.
Perez himself isn't publicly committing to the team but deputy Bob Fernley said at Spa that the team would “very much” like to keep Perez, but acknowledged that his sponsor contracts are “highly sophisticated and complex”.
"That’s the negotiation process we’re under now and I would be very surprised if we’re not staying with the two drivers in 2017,” he added.
“Renault is a team with attractive potential," said Le Mans legend Tom Kristensen. "But right now Williams, Force India, Toro Rosso and even Haas are quicker.”
Perez is hoping that an announcement will com before the stash of races being held in Europe.
"I hope soon," he said when asked about when his future would be known. "Before the start of the races in Asia.”
