Jan Magnussenhas hit back at reports that his son's Renault future is under threat because of his commitment.
A British magazine recently suggested that Kevin Magnussen does not work hard enough and lacks commitment.
The younger Magnussen was unavailable for comment when the Danish newspaper BT tried to contact him.
However, his father Jan, who was dropped by Stewart Grand Prix in 1998 over question marks over his own commitment, has said the same thing is not true of his son.
"I know that Kevin is working very hard on his training and physical fitness. In fact, harder than ever," he said. "I also know that he is often at the factory to work in the simulator. Therefore, I am baffled by these stories."
Jan also thinks people may get the wrong impression about Kevin as he keeps "a little distance" to those outside the team when not working.
Compatriot Ronnie Bremer, meanwhile, thinks the reports are just a product of the political world of F1.
"It's that time of year," said the former Champ Car driver, "and we can't forget that Kevin Magnussen is up against a British driver in Jolyon Palmer. So there are often these stories around when in reality there's nothing to it."
