Volkswagen's ambitions for a fourth consecutive World Rally Championship may delay Jost Capito's move to McLaren.
The German was announced as McLaren's new Formula One CEO earlier this year but agreed to remain in charge of Volkswagen's motorsport operations until a suitable replacement was found.
So far a successor is yet to be appointed, with Capito telling Autosport that it could be Rally Germany in August before an announcement is made.
"Nothing has changed on this, I will go when we have a successor in place and when the championship is in a good condition," he said. "The championship is in a good condition now, but maybe in Rally Germany it could be in the condition where we are in the position that we are unlikely to lose. And by that stage we should have the successor in place."
"We are getting closer to the successor, it's closer than a shortlist," he added, "but I can't tell you if it's somebody in the sport or in Volkswagen."

Capito will hardly turn McLaren into a dreamteam anyway, so that wont impact the on track performance anyway.
