The venerable
McLaren F1 team may have lots of history, but announced earlier this year that it would no longer have Vodafone as a major sponsor for the 2014 campaign.
Martin Whitmarsh, Team Principal for McLaren had previously stated that the announcement of the new sponsor would be made 2 weeks after the last GP in Brazil. He is now stating that the announcement of more likely to come at the release of their all new Turbo V6 car made for the 2014 season. This he said, should occur sometime in January. No official date is currently scheduled.
Whitmarsh added, "There will be some new sponsors, but probably, and I don't know because I haven't spoken to our PR function, I suspect there will be more of a fanfare at a car launch rather than on December 2," said Whitmarsh. "But we will see, it depends what our partners want to do, how they want to do it as it's not just our voice."
