Lewis Hamilton has set the best time in the first free practice for the Bahrain Grand Prix. The McLaren driver realised a 1:33.572 and was three tenths faster than Sebastian Vettel. All was calm at Bahrain International Circuit, with hardly any spectators in the stands.
Ferrari struggled with tyres and traction, resulting in thirteenth and fifteenth positions for Fernando Alonso en Felipe Massa. Timo Glock spun in Turn 1, Paul di Resta went wide in Turn 12, and Romain Grosjean, Nico Hulkenberg, Kamui Kobayashi and Nico Hulkenberg briefly went off track in Turn 10.
