Pierre Gasly fastest in German practice

Pierre Gasly topped the practice timesheets at Hockenheim after setting a time of 1 minute 23.269 seconds, just under a tenth of a secondahead of Artem Markelov.

The championship leader was one of many drivers to struggle with braking throughout the session, with many running off-track as GP2 is experiencing DRS for the first time at Hockenheim.

Alex Lynn finished in an encouraging third and he will be hoping his pace will continue throughout the weekend as he has so far struggled this season. Luca Ghiotto finished fourth followed by Norman Nato.

Rafaelle Marciello finished ahead of the two British duo of Jordan King and Oliver Rowland. Rookie Antonio Giovinazzi finished ninth while Hungary sprint race winner Sergey Sirotkin rounded out the top ten.
