Venturi Formula E Team have announced that Maro Engel will partner Stephane Sarrazin at the team next season.
The German, 30, is a works driver for Mercedes AMG and has competed in DTM, V8 Supercars and various sports car championships in recent years. However, he hasn't raced a single seater since his race-winning 2007 British Formula Three campaign where he finished the season in second place.
"After giving me the opportunity to develop their new car, Venturi, a top team in Formula-E, offered me the chance to participate in the championship. I am very happy." said this year's Nurburgring 24H winner. "Efficient cars, great drivers, important manufacturers, races in big cities: the series is already a success and as a driver it’s very important to be part of it ."
"It is a great satisfaction to welcome Maro" added team coordinator Franck Baldet. "He is already deeply involved in the team through the season 3 car preparation. He knows our new engine - the VM 200 - FE - 02. He did most of the testing sessions accumulating hundreds of kilometres behind the wheel. He is efficient and accurate in his comments to our engineers, always available for the exchange that will increase the performance of the vehicle."
