Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas has insisted that he is not concerned about securing a future beyond 2020 at Mercedes before the next season starts.

Both Bottas and team principal Toto Wolff admitted it was wrong to leave it so long to renew Bottas for 2020, and hoped the same thing would not happen again.

Despite the length taken to renew Bottas' contract for 2020, the Mercedes driver has said he is happy to leave it and see what comes up throughout next season.

"No, I haven't really thought about it," Bottas commented. "There's no rush getting anything sorted before next season starts, that's how I feel.

"I would be happy to see what's out there, what the team thinks, what the team might offer later on so there isn't really any stress or rush with that. Definitely keen to move on and have talks after that though."

Bottas believes that 2020 can be an interesting season as so many drivers are expiring from contracts, such as Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull's Max Verstappen.

Bottas is excited about seeing what opportunities could arise from expiring contracts next season but said that thanks to the current performance of the team, he would not shy away from staying at Mercedes beyond next season.

"I think it's going to be an interesting season for sure," Bottas added. "Both at the beginning of the season and during the summertime because I can't remember a time where so many drivers are expiring with contracts.

"Of course me, like every other single driver will be looking at every possible option and at the moment now if I decided now on my future for 2021, it would be a no brainer to continue with this team."
