Verstappen to carry out 'public service' order at Formula E race

Max Verstappen will perform his public service at this weekend's Formula E race in Marrakech working with the race stewards. Verstappen was ordered to two days of service following an altercation with Esteban Ocon last November.

Verstappen was leading the Brazilian Grand Prix when he came into contact with Ocon, who was attempting to unlap himself. At the weigh-in room after the race, Verstappen swapped words with the Frenchman before pushing him several times.

Both men were called to the Stewards to give an explanation, and soon after the Dutchman's punishment followed. The Stewards found that Verstappen had committed. “acts prejudicial to the interests of any competition or to the interests of motor sport generally.”

The second round of the 2018/19 Formula E championship takes place this weekend in the Moroccan city. Verstappen is expected to arrive at the circuit in time for the commencement of events on Saturday morning.

Mind, way to humiliate FE by deeming it a punishment to drive in it.

  • Great use of a setback to gain some more PR. Hope he is allowed to wear Redbull logos all over him, and he could quench his thirst while performing his duties using a Redbull or two.

I hope it is at his own personal expense and he has to submit a "report" to the public.

@MICHIELHIMSELF , Just attending at my own expense would keep me on the straight and narrow.

    • Fair enough Michiel, but the point kinda says. If being associated with FE is considered a public service, what kinda message does it send?
