Ricciardo expecting Horner to deliver "a word" before race

Daniel Ricciardo says that he is expecting his boss Christian Horner to speak to him and teammate Max Verstappen before the Spanish Grand Prix. Tensions rose between the two drivers a fortnight ago, when they were involved in a tense on-track battle.

However, the dicing and duelling ended in disaster after the pair collided on lap 40 of the race, with both drivers immediately retiring from the Grand Prix. The stewards investigated the incident and decided that both drivers were at fault for the crash.

The two Red Bulls will share the third row for the start of today's race, with Verstappen ahead of Ricciardo. Before the race gets underway, Ricciardo says that he is expecting Horner to speak to both drivers about keeping it clean.

"For sure, I expect Christian to definitely have a word with us before the race,” the six-time Grand Prix winner said. "For the next few races, until things calm down and he sees proof that things have calmed down, he will definitely talk to us.

"We are in a difficult position because we want to not only beat each other but try and attack Kimi [Raikkonen, who starts fourth] or whoever is in front of us. Look, we’ve attacked before and kept it clean, so we just need to do that," he added.

RIC had problems with the stability of the car, he explained that 1 in 5 laps could be a good lap, but he was not able to put in 2 good laps after eachother.

He also had a spin after the VC restart. Almost everybody missed that.

  • Yeah, thats definitely a good idea. As I've said before, I think things have cooled off, but if a similar thing happens again shit will hit the fan, and thats not a situation Red Bull can afford having, especially since they dont have the luxury Merc' had when it happened to them with Rosberg vs Hammy. And they cannot afford a similar incident on a track like this. In theory this should be a perfect track for Ferrari and Red Bull. How Merc' has utterly dominated so far, upgrades or not, is beyond me.

Verstappen hammered him in the race. Still can't understand how he can set fastest lap times and be so far behind. Glad that verstappen had a bit off luck today with stroll.
